ABOUT MY PAINTING
1.
Usually I paint on paper and wooden boards
using watercolors, tempera and acrylic.
I make use of brushes but also use my fingers, thereby obtaining interesting effects.
Touch creates an intimate relationship between me, picture and reality.
2.
Painting for me is one of the ways of being in this world:
sometimes I paint because something here enchanted me,
sometimes to mitigate the strangeness of the world that surrounds me.
However, it is always a process that allows me to experience reality in a deeper way,
to know myself better and to enter into the mystery of existence.
3.
Painting is an art that requires persistent work, reflection and knowledge of the material used.
I think that in it there is a lot of craft, decorating and alchemy.
4.
Painting is not only a matter of the skilled hand, but rather of the attentive eye.
In order to paint we have to look, because only by gazing do we begin to see.
Sometimes I paint because I saw something, in other cases precisely to see reality.
5.
Painting is color, space and line, but also invisibility.
6.
I do not belong to any school and have not studied in any academy of art.
In Poland I was influenced by Leona Wyczółkowski, Stanisław Wyspiański and Józef Czapski.
During my travels around the world I have seen wonderful works
in temples, palaces, museums, galleries, and along the roads.
In my opinion, the most beautiful still lifes were painted by Jean-Baptiste Chardin;
the most brilliant modern iconographer was Jerzy Nowosielski;
among abstractionists I appreciate Mark Rothko.
The most mystical painter for me is Morris Graves.
7.
My landscapes, still life, abstract variations and icons are united by a fascination with invisibility,
which periodically throws out the brush from my hand in order to refine my look.
